Background
Our changing climatic circumstances pose a huge challenge to achieving sustainable and equitable development especially for the poorest and most vulnerable sectors of society, especially women. These unprecedented climate changes are projected to make significant impacts on the lives and livelihoods of people and society as a whole which can manifest itself in a number of ways, for example, in terms of health and well being, migration, community development, gender inequality and human rights, food and nutrition security. There is now a pressing and overwhelming need to identify and develop the right policies, strategies and mechanisms to address these impacts.
