Celebrate the biggest day for world oceans action!
World Oceans Day has been celebrated annually, on 8 June, since the UN General Assembly adopted resolution 63/111 in December 2008. The Day seeks to: remind everyone of the major part the Ocean has in everyday life; inform the public on the impact of the human actions on the Ocean; develop a worldwide movement of citizen, towards the Ocean; and mobilize and unite the world's population on a project for the sustainable management of the World Ocean.
The theme for this year is Healthy oceans, healthy planet. This day is directly related to developing climate services for marine and coastal communities, including for coastal adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
