China: Detection system could save lives in earthquakes

The China Daily reports that a new earthquake alert system, though still experimental, could save lives by providing people with advance warning, said said Du Wei, deputy director of the Earthquake Defense Department of China Earthquake Administration.

The announcement was made on the day before the first anniversary the Sichuan earthquake.
