President Mohamed Nasheed met yesterday with Margareta Wahlström, United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General at the climate change summit in Copenhagen.

In the meeting, the President and Ms Wahlström discussed the programmes and projects carried out by UN agencies in the Maldives.

Speaking particularly on the issue of adaptation, the President expressed his expectations of "thinking out of the box”.

Moreover, the President and Ms Wahlström discussed the importance of centralising project management in the country to eliminate inefficiencies.
