Malta: 'Disasters can be mitigated through proper planning'

According to the Malta Independent online, Justice and Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ Affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici urged stakeholders to consider the implementation of initiatives in disaster risk reduction during an international meeting on the effects of disasters. He called upon them to foster education and information sharing in order to create a safety culture within the Mediterranean region by using research, land use planning and legislation on safety standards, with respect to the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015.
