About
This issue explores innovative approaches to designing resilient communities, emphasizing disaster early warning systems, climate change adaptation, and resilient infrastructure. It highlights novel methodologies, tools, and case studies that advance resilience against natural hazards such as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, and slow-onset climate-related risks. Building resilience requires a multi-disciplinary approach, integrating engineering, social sciences, technology, and policy to reduce vulnerabilities and enhance adaptive capacity. Frameworks like the Sendai Framework for DRR and IPCC AR6 underscore the importance of proactive planning, risk-informed decision-making, and community-driven resilience strategies.
The Special Issue invites contributions on:
- Innovative Strategies for Disaster-Resilient Infrastructure: Designing and retrofitting buildings, bridges, and lifeline systems to withstand multiple hazards.
- Community-Driven Approaches: Integrating local knowledge and participatory planning to enhance resilience.
- Real-Time Risk Monitoring and Disaster Response: Leveraging technology for adaptive risk management.
- Policy Frameworks for Climate-Resilient Infrastructure: Examining governance mechanisms, funding strategies, and regulatory approaches.
- Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems: Improving detection, communication, and decision-making in disaster events.
- Post-Disaster Reconstruction and Learning: Case studies on rebuilding strategies and lessons learned from past disasters.
This issue aims to advance our understanding of resilience across the disaster risk management cycle, promoting innovative, inclusive, and effective resilience-building efforts.
