The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) advised local officials today to familiarize themselves with geohazard maps to reduce the impact of natural hazards in their respective areas, particularly during the typhoon season, reports Ellalyn B. de Vera for the Manila Bulletin.

“Local officials should take heed of PAGASA’s warning of heavy rains. In the same way, they should familiarize themselves with their geohazard maps and take note of areas that are found to be highly susceptible to flooding and landslides,” said DENR Secretary Ramon Paje.
