Philippines: Weather bureau hit for failure to notify Metro Manila of Typhoon

Over his first disaster management briefing, President Benigno Aquino III pointed out at the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) for having failed to notify the public that typhoon "Basyang" would head for Metro Manila, resulting in extent of damage and steps taken to normalize the situation, reports the Inquirer. He also called for enhancement of the weather forecasting, which would require improvement of communication system, as well as training in the new methods of meteorology and storm tracking.
