Emaka Ezekiel of the Nigerian news agency, Punch, interviewed the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mohammed Audu-Bida on the challenges facing disaster management in Nigeria.

"One of our major challenges is that it takes time for Nigerians to imbibe the risk reduction culture. When you try to educate people on what disaster management is all about, they are not usually comfortable with it. What we have done is to try as much as possible to bring the knowledge of disaster management to all the strata of the society," said Audu-Bida.
