According to the Bangkok Post, National Disaster Warning Council chairman Smith Dharmasaroja urged the Education Ministry to include disaster-related courses in the standard curriculum so that pupils would know and understand the causes and the risks of 'natural' disasters and how to respond to them. He said that through disaster education, Thailand would be able to increase its ability to cope as well as its risk assessment and preparedness. "It will be difficult to prevent disasters from happening. The more practical approach would be to adapt," he said.
