John Holmes, Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, talked about humanitarian aid and disaster preparedness during his visit to China early this week, reports the Xinhua News Agency. He pointed out the importance of civilians' needs to further humanitarian efforts worldwide.
On the occasion, the official also spoke about the challenges of dealing with disasters, while highlighting the importance of taking measures to reduce the impact of such hazards in a preventive way: "That's a better investments than just responding to the event", said the UN Humanitarian chief.
