Adaptation to climate risk and food security: evidence from smallholder farmers in Ethiopia
This paper explores the impact of climate risk on the risk decreasing practices' adoption and evaluates their impact on household welfare. It shows that as risk increases, the use of risk-reducing inputs increases, such as climate-smart agriculture inputs, while the use of modern inputs such as chemical fertilizer decreases. Also, yield-enhancing inputs such as chemical fertilizer and improved seeds are mainly adopted by wealthier households whereas risk-reducing inputs are frequently used by households with a lower level of wealth and limited access to credit.
