Adapting coastal cities and territories to sea level rise in North America - U.S. West Coast
This report addresses the need to develop and share locally relevant and actionable knowledge, ways to engage coastal communities meaningfully into adaptation planning, and opportunities to deliver transformative adaptation policies. Sea level along the U.S. West Coast could rise by 0.1-0.2 meters (4-8 inches) in the next 30 years and 0.6 meters (2 feet) by the end of the century.
According to this report, three key axes can be considered to accelerate coastal adaptation and achieve just and equitable outcomes:
- Mobilizing actionable knowledge to address local adaptation needs
- Rooting adaptation strategies in communities’ visions
