This paper addresses the need to develop a broad range of adaptation strategies to address current and future impacts of climate change in Africa. It defines Climate risk management (CRM) as the use of climate information to cope with possible impacts of climate change on development and resource management by adaptation to climate change and disaster risk reduction in any climate sensitive development sector. It describes the main issues at stake in Africa, giving a practical approach to climate risk management and institutional and systems strengthening.
