COP29 Presidency text: Gender and climate change
The Presidency text on gender and climate change acknowledged the the continuing need for gender mainstreaming through all relevant targets and goals in activities under the Convention as an important contribution to increasing their effectiveness, fairness and sustainability. It also acknowledged the role of the enhanced Lima work programme on gender and its gender action plan in advancing gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in the UNFCCC process.
The text also stated the decision to extend the enhanced Lima work programme on gender for a period of 10 years. It also states the decision to conduct a review of the implementation of the enhanced Lima work programme on gender to identify progress, challenges and further work to be undertaken shall be initiated
