Disaster risk reduction handbook
This handbook provides comprehensive basic knowledge on disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Thailand's context. The book is written in Thai with an utmost intention to provide relevant agencies and general public with better understanding on what DRR is and what can be done as part of DRR initiatives. It is hoped that once DRR is understood, everyone can together take parts in reducing disaster risks and contributing to building disaster resilience in the country.
The five chapters of the book include: (i) the importance of disaster risk reduction; (ii) disaster risk reduction concepts; (iii) disaster risks and disaster risk assessment; (iv) good practices in disaster risk reduction; and (v) the next chapter of Thailand in disaster risk reduction.
The handbook was developed as part of the collaboration between the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), Ministry of Interior, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Project on Strengthening Disaster Management Capacities in Thailand.
