Embedding climate resilience into agriculture projects
This note summarizes lessons and practices deployed in embedding climate resilience into the design of projects that received catalytic funds from The Africa Climate Resilience Investment Facility (AFRI-RES).
Agriculture is one of the sectors most vulnerable to climate change, particularly affecting the most vulnerable populations: small-scale producers in low- and middle-income countries. Agriculture is also the largest engine of economic growth in Africa, representing 15 per cent of the continent's total gross domestic product, and is the principal livelihood for most Africans.
The note draws from the application of the Resilience Booster Tool to specific projects, as relevant, Compendium Volume on Climate Resilient Investment in Sub-Saharan Africa (World Bank (2023a) and Guidance, Standards, and Good Practice Notes developed under the program.
