This paper advocates to integrate gender concerns into disaster risk reduction. It draws some specific conclusions based on the objectives of ISDR, from the literature, and the expert meeting in Ankara, Turkey, 6-9 November 2001.
In this paper, disaster risk reduction gender mainstreaming refers to fostering awareness about gender equity and equality, etc, to help reduce the impact of disasters, and to incorporate gender analysis in disaster management, risk reduction and sustainable development to decrease vulnerability.
