Facing climate change across Latin America and the Caribbean
Nature Climate Change asked a selection of scientists from the Latin America and the Caribbean region to share their thoughts on research questions and responses to climate change in their area of study. No part of Earth is unaffected by anthropogenic climate change, but the particular impacts and challenges that people and ecosystems face differ substantially from region to region.
This Viewpoint highlights such regional particularities and perspectives on climate change and how to respond to it. Nine researchers from across Latin America and the Caribbean present what they see as the most pressing research questions, concerns and knowledge gaps for their regions. They discuss how climate change affects both humans and nature, but also the particular challenges that emerge as a changing climate interacts with other social and environmental issues that range from threatened biosystems to extractivism and deforestation.
