Gender inclusive climate resilient agriculture in Pakistan: A review of policies and practices 2023
This report examines the critical intersection of climate change, agriculture, and gender, advocating for the development of gender-responsive policies to address the adverse effects of climate variability on marginalized communities. The review assessed 15 policy documents pertaining to agriculture and climate change using gender inclusion criteria previously used by the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and others.
The study recommends policy and institutional-level actions to be taken to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the agriculture sector with special consideration of climate change, adaptation and vulnerability aspects. Key policylevel recommendations include more investment in evidence-based research on gender equality and women’s empowerment in climate-smart agriculture to generate disaggregated data by sex, age, disability, class and analytics, so as to enable informed and inclusive policymaking.
