Hunger and climate change
This paper approaches the challenges of climate change from the point of view of its impact on hunger and nutrition. It presents the sophisticated early warning and vulnerability analysis tools that WFP uses and shares to predict and map the risk of hazards to livelihoods and food security. It describes WFP's work in this area by providing emergency relief when disasters strike, helping devastated families recover and rebuild, and assisting vulnerable communities adapt to more difficult and uncertain times.
The paper also gives some country examples of WFP’s support to countries’ adaptation efforts in Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Bangladesh. It then provides a science-based worldwide overview of regional climatic and food security impacts. It lastly makes an inventory of WFP's partnerships and activities that contribute to communities’ adaptation and resilience to climatic changes.
