Innovative sources of climate finance
This briefing paper focuses on innovative sources of climate finance and the opportunities to make progress in 2011, considering that climate change is already hitting the poorest people hard with unpredictable rainfall, extreme weather events or sea-level rise. It advocates for countries and communities to be granted financial resources and the appropriate technology and expertise for successful adaptation and gives some recommendations to the UK government.
It also (i) discusses the importance of climate finance; (ii) analyses key innovative sources, including Financial Transaction Taxes, measures to raise finance from international transport, Redirecting Fossil Fuel Subsidies and Special Drawing Rights; and (iii) provides conclusions and recommendations.
