Integrated fire safety and risk management in industry clusters
Last month, in December 2019, more than 40 workers died in a factory in the Indian capital, Dehli. Illegal building use and lacking fire prevention and safety measures again and again result in fatal casualties. In close cooperation with the Bangladeshi fire services and civil defence directorate and garment businesses, the Global Initiative on Disaster Risk Management has worked on systematically establishing and extending fire prevention and safety measures in Bangladesh. The Project had set up a decentralised Mini Fire Brigade or more specifically, a Rapid Response and Risk Reduction Unit (4RU) in industry clusters.
