Maldives: Strategic national action plan (SNAP) for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation 2010-2020
The Maldives (SNAP) aims to build resilience of the nation and the island communities to disasters. In keeping with the spirit of the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA), the Maldives government adopted future outlook statements as summarized in its 2008 HFA Monitor.The country thus positions itself:
- To sustain the progress in all fronts that have been initially achieved since government authorities have recognized the challenges;
- To consolidate actions to build resilient communities as Maldivians learn from nations that have developed mechanisms and learned from past experiences; and
- To incorporate risk reduction into the government‟s decentralization strategy.
