Managing climate change in Bangladesh: foundations for policymakers
This training manual comprises twelve modules on key aspects of climate change in Bangladesh. This training manual will help to better understand the climate change problem, both in its cause-and-effect dimensions, i.e. the sources of GHG emissions, the physical manifestations of a changing climate and its implications for various economic sectors/activities and livelihoods. Broadly, this includes impact and vulnerability assessments (IVA) along macro and micro scales – sectors, livelihoods, etc.
The manual will also contribute to improving the capacity to formulate, mainstream and implement national policies, plans and strategies and actions to both help limit the scale of the problem through mitigation of GHG emissions, and to reduce risks and adapt to them. It will also help better analyze, build consensus on, and articulate the national interest in UNFCCC negotiations and obligations, as well as the broader array of international climate-related discussions and activities that now engage all countries. There is a growing opportunity for the mobilization of international climate finance, which requires very specific capacities for developing fundable proposals.
