Measurement and impact analysis of social vulnerability to geological disasters in Guizhou Province, China
This study established a framework for measuring social vulnerability to geological disasters and verified its impact on disaster risk. The index measurement is supported by an existing methodological framework (SoVI). To capture the characteristics of counties in Guizhou, the index system incorporates a support capacity dimension.
The study revealed significant spatial differences in the social vulnerability to geological disasters index. Counties with low social vulnerability are primarily concentrated near the economic center and secondary centers of Guizhou. Contrastingly, high social vulnerability to geological disasters is clustered in Bijie.
