Mitigation works
This brochure explains how to encourage and support mitigation efforts. It describes FEMA's activities in reducing the impact of disasters, and calls for: (i) collaboration between communities, business, and government; (ii) investment in creating resilient communities through planning and structural safety; (iii) expertise in building design and technology through lessons learned application; and (iv) action; highlighting each point with good examples from the USA.
It then presents FEMA's programs in risk analysis, risk reduction, and risk insurance, which provide expertise, tools, and support to communities needs to understand and address their unique mitigation challenges.
