This document presents a brief summary of discussions that took place at the Climate Smart Disaster Risk Reduction Forum that took place in Stockholm, Sweden on 26 October 2009. It also includes recommendations made by participants regarding the reduction of disaster risk, considered a core component of adaptation to climate change. It specifically focuses on how national level policy and practice relates to three critical challenges: promoting regional cooperation to address trans-boundary issues; supporting local level actors; and facilitating and making use of the self initiative of private markets related to adaptation activities.
