Translating climate risks into investments for resilience: ‘Risk to resilience (R2R)’
This document emphasizes the pressing need for implementing action in sub-Saharan Africa to build resilience and support sustainable development aligned with countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.
For achieving the active participation of the private sector in adaptation investments it proposes a multi-stakeholder, evidence-based approach to co-producing adaptation and resilience projects. It targets geographically localised communities experiencing (or anticipating) a climate-induced risk. It draws from existing literature and practice, and proposes a replicable methodology and knowledge management process that can support impact at scale.
Here is the summary of the approach. For more details, please refer to the pages 14 to 15.
- Step 1: Identify Opportunity and Document Baseline
- Step 2: Exploration with Community of Actors
- Step 3: Discovery and Alignment
- Step 4: Investment Approaches
