United Nations General Assembly document A/65/88: Dushanbe declaration on water
This document is the outcome of the High-level International Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the International Decade for Action, "Water for Life", 2005-2015, held in Dushanbe on 8 and 9 June 2010, and focusing on six themes: (i) accelerating progress towards water-related internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals, ensuring the involvement of women; (ii) transboundary water cooperation; (iii) water quality; (iv) water resources, adaptation to climate change and disaster risk reduction; (v) sustainable financing; and (vi) integrated water resources management, energy, agriculture and food security. It highlights the importance to build resilience and reduce vulnerabilities to extreme events, namely, floods, droughts and other hydro-climatic hazards under the policy framework and guidance of the Hyogo Framework for Action (2005-2015): Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters.
