Vulnerability: a conceptual and methodological review
This publication deals with the complex problem of vulnerability assessment and offers a review of different ideas, concepts and methods developed in the recent years of research to capture vulnerability at different scales, as well as of proceedings and possibilities in the field of vulnerability assessment. It asserts that the main challenge within the field of disaster reduction should be to change the perception of people and make them recognize this notion of disasters as the outcome of a development process whereby societies have implicitly generated vulnerabilities and risks, which become evident during the disaster.
