National conference on community managed disaster risk reduction (CMDRR)
As a part of Caritas learning process on community managed disaster risk reduction (CMDRR), a National Conference will be organized to Promote a culture of risk reduction, by providing access to knowledge, experience and effective practices on disaster risk reduction and its increased application (i.e. availability and utility) of public administrative policy, professional involvement and public understanding to reduce the impact of future hazards on societies. Caritas India is exploring the possibility of collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority, UN Organisations, Sphere India, AADRR etc.
Purpose:
- The conference will help showcase the work of Caritas India and its partners on the effects of disaster risk reduction in development.
- The conference will stage a platform for different institutions in practice to showcase and discuss different aspects of Disaster Risk Reduction in development.
- Partners can use the information platform for identifying, developing and promoting opportunities for collaboration with other stakeholders.
- Increase public knowledge about existing tools, mechanisms and possible solutions for reducing vulnerability to hazards.
- To identify gaps in usage and operationalization of information based on an updated inventory of sources of information and handbooks for disaster risk reduction,
- To initiate a plan to promote a culture of Disaster Risk Reduction in India
