To support the people of the Caribbean as they address the impact of climate variability and change on all aspects of economic development through the provision of timely forecasts and analyses of potentially hazardous impacts of both natural and man-induced climatic changes on the environment, and the development of special programmes with create opportunities for sustainable development.

The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre adds LiDAR to boost Caribbean’s climate change fight

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre has launched a Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) system to provide the region with the data needed for building climate-resilient communities. The LiDAR system is possibly the most significant achievement for data capture in the Caribbean, as high costs previously inhibited countries from accessing it.

CCCCC, Governments of Italy and St Lucia plan early warning system

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre and representatives from the Governments of Italy and Saint Lucia held meetings this week to discuss the development of an early warning system for the island. The system would forecast the potential effects of national disasters, and provide flood mapping and other necessary information to aid decision-making.
