The Disaster Management Training and Education Centre for Africa (DiMTEC) is an education, training, and research centre within the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences on the Bloemfontein Campus of the University of the Free State in South Africa. DiMTEC strives to educate the public on disaster risk reduction and resilience building through the Postgraduate Diploma, Master's and PhD degrees in Disaster Management, research projects, and short learning programmes (SLPs).
DiMTEC’s first course was approved and registered by the South African Qualifications Authority in 2001. The Centre's strategic goal is to provide education and training to postgraduate students, conduct capacity-building programs on disaster “risk” management activities and undertake research and projects related to disaster management to actively contribute to disaster risk reduction and community resilience as constituted in the relevant national, regional, and international frameworks.

The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
