In a joint project, the EU and Mongolia have made efforts to strengthen the current nuclear safety regulations in Mongolia.
The European Union recently launched the Copernicus programme in the Philippines. The programme will help with drought detection and other applications by providing spatial resolution covering large areas and matching new information with long-term records for data continuity.
In Viqueque, the European Union has funded Timor-Leste's second emergency centre through the Building Safety and Resilience in the Pacific programme. The programme seeks to support climate adaptation and to strengthen the capacity of relevant agencies to prepare for and recover from disasters in the Pacific region.
Projects supported by the EU in Central Asia have had significant impacts in strengthening disaster preparedness at a community level. Achievements include mainstreaming of disaster risk reduction in policy, budget and legislation, increasing school safety in disaster situations, and helping set up disaster risk reduction (DRR) communities.
