Future Climate For Africa
Explore further
Future Climate for Africa (FCFA) aims to generate fundamentally new climate science focused on Africa, and to ensure that this science has an impact on human development across the continent. FCFA's goal is to reduce disruption and damage from climate change and to safeguard economic development and poverty eradication efforts over the long-term. In this way, FCFA aims to make new African infrastructure and urban and rural plans and investments more climate-resilient.
FCFA aims to:
- Significantly improve scientific understanding of climate variability and change across Africa and the impact of climate change on specific development decisions.
- Demonstrate flexible methods for integrating improved climate information and tools in decision-making.
- Improve medium to long term (5-40 year) decision-making, policies, planning and investment by African stakeholders and donors.
FCFA will be delivered by five independent research consortia, with support from a central coordination unit.
allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
