Mission and values
When IU was founded in 1820, it was one of the first public universities west of the Allegheny Mountains.
IU believes that the wisest among us have an obligation to teach the untested — and that when they do, everyone rises to a higher level.
IU also believes that learning can happen anywhere and everywhere. So while the school expects students to show up and study hard, it also encourages them to get out in the community. It is founded on the belief that community needs students' skills — and that every city, town, and village on the planet is part of the same IU community.
IU has full faith in its students to achieve great things if they put in the work and have the support of people who inspire them.
allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
