ICCG was founded in 2009 as a joint initiative of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) and Fondazione Giorgio Cini, named “International Center for Climate Governance”. In 2017, ICCG became a FEEM international dissemination project with a new name, Initiative on Climate Change policy and Governance, and continues to focus its activities on the design of climate policy and related governance issues.

The ICCG’s mission is to disseminate scientifically-based, socio-economic research in the fields of climate change mitigation and adaptation to policymakers, business leaders, academics and the general public. It seeks to achieve this at the local, national and international levels through interdisciplinary activities as well as through the production of climate and energy policy analyses and definitions of optimal governance models for climate change management.

Every year, ICCG has chosen a topic of particular relevance in global climate change governance to guide our research, education, and partnership-building efforts. In 2017, ICCG aims to deepen our understanding of disaster risk reduction by exploring the topic through the activities of its two observatories—Climate Policy Observer and Best Climate Practices—as well as numerous seminars, webinars, video lecture series, and more. ICCG hopes to thereby create a platform for the dissemination of information that is comprehensive and useful to policymakers and the public.
