The Kenya government through the Ministry of State for Special Programmes has developed National Policy for Disaster Management in Kenya and National Disaster Response Plan to guide in the disaster risk reduction.
It's mission: To provide leadership in the development of risk reduction measures and disaster management for sustainable development in Kenya.
To have a safer, sustainable and resilient society
Developed the following:
1. Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy for Kenya
2. National Disaster Management Policy
3. National Disaster Response Plan
4. Continuous development of contingency plans for drought and floods
5. Developed District specific disaster management plans
Works closely with the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ä¢¹½´«Ã½, UNDP, IOM
allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
