The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.

The theme for this year's 2018 Contest is: How does my school prepare to respond to a Tsunami warning in my community?
Tsunami early warning systems use seismic monitoring to determine location, depth, and magnitude of an earthquake in order to predict the tsunami arrival time and expected wave heights. UNESCO is working on tsunami risk reduction in Central America as well as on raising public awareness and preparedness in cooperation with several donors.
