Mountains and the Sustainable Development Goals
This brief presents a call to action - by mountain countries, organizations, communities – to help ensure that mountains are included in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which will take effect in 2015 when the Millennium Development Goals expire. It considers different SDG issues and themes, including: climate change, disaster risk reduction, poverty eradication, food security and nutrition, sustainable agriculture, water, energy, forests, biodiversity, equality, social equity, gender equality and women's empowerment. It offers some recommendations for governments, organizations and individuals to take part in the discussions.
